Hoping to Wake Refreshed

Hoping to wake refreshed
I am instead the tiny amorphous remains of a candle
That slowly burnt itself to a quiet death in the night.
Discovered in the morning to have been reduced
To nothing but a shriveled blackened thread encased in a thin waxy layer,
Waiting to be melted down
To be made into something useful again.
