Another Quarter Century

A quarter century of shadows
Coating the brain

Decades of void
Staining the heart

Persistent dread
Pulsing through meat and sinew

All vibrating through bone
At a frequency I can’t even describe

I’ll thrash and wail and curse
However able, whenever able

I’ll whisper undeciphered secrets between these lines
Giving myself to the world in screaming anonymity

I’ll roar obscenities so deep in my belly
You’ll never be able to hear them

I’m trying to communicate
In a language I don’t even understand

I’m standing here silent on the outside
Staring beyond you and your reason

Will I be falling through the world
For another quarter century?
