Survival Metaphors

My metaphors are odd, mismatched
My word choices are unusual, maybe nonsensical
Desperately shouting, desperately wanting
Comprehension, compassion, empathy

I could hide my words away
Never share them with anyone
Not anyone at all

I’ve never felt a thought experiment
So lonely

So I share them
I hide behind anonymity
Like a coward
But I share them anyway
So I can live

These patchwork assemblies speak to so few

If they reach many eyes
I’ll certainly be seen
But if only two eyes really hear
If only two understand
That’s enough to be known

To myself, more than anything
I need to be known
For how else could I ever
Hope to solve this mystery
