Trying Not to Fall

One day I may be just so tired of these return trips
I’ll just be done with it
Just finished
So finished

Maybe I’ll just fade away silently
Exhausted
My world simply ending
With not even a whimper

Or maybe an act of rage
Lashing inwards with destructive fury
A final act of resistance
Refusal to live under its thumb any longer
My world ending with a mighty bang
That only I can hear, but would be enough

Maybe, maybe, maybe

For now, I’m here
Riding these winds
Trying not to fall out of the sky
With a bang or a whimper

It’s such a long way down
