Friend departs again
Happily, I see more joy
In second crossing
My friend was sparkling
Yesterday morning as we talked
Over coffee, side by side
One day before he was to set out again
Watching him shimmer
For one simple hour of warm comfort
He gleamed in a way that told me
His world was so very right
That chilly spring morning
…
From across borders
Distance irrelevant for
One forever tamed
Written while riding a highway during a road trip.
Blink blink blink blink blink
Get out of the passing lane
You fucking knob-head
Did they find a safe shoreline?
Was their heart calmed
And did they find their…
Autumn leaves drifting:
Longing to see them return
Friend’s homecoming nigh
A dear friend is on a journey
They crossed an entire ocean
Hoping to pull themselves from another
I crossed an ocean with equal parts anticipation and tension, fearful of the unknowns to a point that most would consider irrational, as is common for “my kind”.
I’m alone beside others who are not.
Cross ocean with fear
Find joy raising others up
Birds chirp in these lands too
Warm sun, distant lands
Sharing the path with others
Sadness in leaving
Brave foreign journey
Cool breeze over cobblestones
Bonds not how once seen
