Words to tell my stories
Words to tell them why
Words to give names
To what flows through my underground
…
we
kindred spirits
love in our hearts
so much
can almost describe
tastes
feels
in our empty mouths
…
To paint love on their walls
Down those long hallways
Meandering through their mind
From yesterday to their future
I wish I could
For them, for all their kind warmth
I wish I knew how to do more
I wish I could do everything they need
I’ll have to settle for my presence
And occasional smiles
And when those fall
Yield in acceptance
That nothing lasts forever
January 9 – 13, 2025
Midnight above us
Asking my lover once more:
Tell me who I am
Opening the door
Finding a joyful surprise
You’re awake already
Standing right there
Smiling at the sight of me
With your entire self
…
No need to catch my eye
I can see you in my periphery
The outline of your shapes
Edges of your straights
Shadows of your curves
I don’t need to stare to see you
…
Tongue up my spine
Coursing over my shoulder
Along my neck
Down Between my collarbones
Down
…
The cat looks so comfortable now
Cuddling on my husband’s lap
(It’s his turn now)
She stares at me
With eyes squinted just a little
She’s completely at ease
We love you, I tell her
Then I tell her
I’m sorry you couldn’t stay with your first family
I’m sorry your first human died
But I promise you
We will love you for the rest of your life
She resumes her grooming
Melted across his legs
Clearly, she is home now
Here, with us
And we are happy

Tide under high moon
In a flash of renewed need
Metaphors appear
Moon across sky
I look down surprised to see
I wrote love again
They’re racing out from inside me
Extensions of my hidden things
Bursting from seed you plant
Sprawling ivy clinging to stone
Sunflowers turning to face the sun
