I miss those lullabies!
…you can see me, still,
If you know how to listen…
I’m don’t think I’m seeing many of the things
That most others can see
…
Don’t make me look
The meanings of refinement
Include to purify, to reduce
To make more fine or polished
To make elegant or cultured
I have a mind programmed
To cultivate all the data, to gather all
That could ever
Possibly hold any kind of significance
At any point in the future
You could reasonably imagine
One step out the door
I take a deep breath
Inhale the sparkling air
With all the safety
Inherent in its cleanliness…
Sun warming maples
Reaching across an ocean
Friend’s calm hand steadies
Sun blends into moon
Friend’s love a shiny pebble
Held close and treasured
(About supportive comfort from a distant friend. For M.)

A dear friend is on a journey
They crossed an entire ocean
Hoping to pull themselves from another
Low sun autumn sky
Those I pass by in the world
Each flawed each perfect
We take on different shapes for different rooms.
If I were to suddenly die unexpectedly, no warning at all, no time to prepare; part of me today wants all of these words spread to all who knew me.
But the catch here is that I can’t care about any of it after I’m gone, so it really makes no difference either way.
