From across borders
Distance irrelevant for
One forever tamed
Written while riding a highway during a road trip.
Blink blink blink blink blink
Get out of the passing lane
You fucking knob-head
How many poems
Celebrating are to come
In days that remain
Hoping to connect
Just hearing those around me
I remain silent
Innate loneliness
Decision wants to be made
To stay or to go
Born some years ago
Today I celebrate him
Great friend and ally
Empty eyes staring
Why do they resist me still
So close to my shore
Distant countenance
Calm façade yet further down
I can’t stop screaming
Finally finished
Mind and body spent, now
Exhausted and still
Ready to repeat
It all again tomorrow
If the sun will rise
May they serve to remind my future self of the importance of perseverance, of how quickly things can change, and the value in maintaining good human connections with the right people.
Cleaning to pass time
Long wait to see friend again
Smiling all the while
Friend’s words taking root
With generous perspective
I can hope again
