Words take flight
Despair clouds vision until
With joy they return
Tide under high moon
In a flash of renewed need
Metaphors appear
Moon across sky
I look down surprised to see
I wrote love again
They’re racing out from inside me
Extensions of my hidden things
Bursting from seed you plant
Sprawling ivy clinging to stone
Sunflowers turning to face the sun
…
Training continues
Persisting reward and spite
Another sunset
There’s less and less of me as time goes by
With each moon, a little less remains
For every dimension I grow a fraction
I feel I’m shrinking in three
…
Anticipation!
Joy in being remembered
In meeting again
It’s so nice to be recognized and remembered.
Everyone can see
Surely, everyone can see
All my flaws I can’t
I see so many
But surely others can see
All my flaws I’ve missed
Fewer and fewer
Words from shrinking throat and mind
So little of me
Winter returning
Falling through the world to split
Open on frozen ground
Love poems are so rarely my thing
I like to read a good one sometimes
But to write one?
Not so much lately
