How often we’re thought to be mistaken about our own minds!
We say we need.
They say we’re wrong.
We say we want.
They say we’ll change our mind.
Our words, thought to mean anything
but themselves even if proven true,
leave them stunned in the end.
How could it be that we were right all along,
with no other secret truth obscured in the shadows
under that deep, dark forest for them to lead us to?
With sudden understanding that we’ll not
(as they so earnestly believed)
fall at their feet weeping in gratitude
for all their wisdom and guidance bringing us to our truth,
they stand dismayed,
seeming like lost puppies in the streets.
These puppies: we know better
than to feed them.
These potentially bound, those who would be as gods to our
to our lowly
(to our lonely?)
to our innocently ignorant selves:
what would they have us do with these
unknown versions of us that they (in their infinite wisdom)
could see beneath our heavy cloaks of denial?
