I once read that a possible reason why autistic people tend to look younger than they really are is that our faces stay smoother. We don’t use our face muscles as much, with our “blank” looks.
You, too, can take advantage of this neat little trick! All you need to do, it turns out, is just be expressionless.
If you’re autistic, this may come naturally to you, so no additional effort may be required. If you’re not, this may be a little more complicated, so here’s some useful tips.
- Start young. For this to work, you need to develop these habits while your face is still baby smooth. The younger, the better.
- Hold no opinions of your own. Be as a shape shifter and simply adapt to the paths of least resistance that you find yourself among. (This will make point 3 much easier.)
- Feel as little as possible. Or rather, refuse to acknowledge your feelings. This is really the crux of it all – it’s easier to express nothing when there’s little to nothing to possibly express!
