We Need More Words for Love (Part 2)

For you who’ll walk with me when I’m in need
Seeing in me what is invisible to the eye

Who, when I drop
Pieces of me in the grass
Will gently place them back into my fumbling hands

For you who’ll portage me
When I’m unable to drift

For you who’ll sit with me
When drops of me fall to my lap
Who’ll smooth waves behind my ear
Combatting my fears until my breathing
Becomes slow and even

For you who teaches me to be whole

Having found this connection
Realizing I may need to continue to live
Continue to grow
With so much less of you one day
I’m so afraid

I’ll be lost
I’m afraid I’ll be so lost
How could I come to rely so much on this well
Only to have it disappear
And need to go on without it

I’m discovering myself
So slowly
Peeling back layer by layer
But with you gone
I won’t know how

I won’t know how

I won’t be able to keep peeling

I’ll be stuck again
Please don’t leave me stuck again

How will I know I’m ok
How will I know I’m ok
How will I know it’s ok to keep going
Without you holding that mirror
Sending my humanity back to me

.

June ? (5-ish?) 2025

(For my person.)
