Metal and Ink — Let it Say Something

I want metal in my flesh and ink under my skin.

Ask me in two days, and I will likely say differently.
However, as for now, today

Today I want steel, titanium, and precious stones
To be made a part of me, tiny extensions of me.
I want hollow sharps through hide and cartilage;
Dermals in my sternum, my arms, my cheeks;
Steel bar buried in my nape!

Today I want ink until I die;
The richest, pitchest blacks known to man between my pale layers.
I want the finest pointillism, gently sloping gradients, tapering lines
Staining gentle curves where my stability holds
And hard edges where I am soft and yielding;
Contrast near-alarming.

My body is a wasted space,
Canvas unused!
Let it say something, even wordless,
In the short time it’s here.
